During my senior year of high school, I was enrolled in AP Drawing; the year-long focus was to construct a 15-piece movement of work that would tell a story across the entire portfolio. The story I chose to convey was the effect of the ‘seven deadly sins’ on young adult males, and how what might appear to be a harmless indulgence can drag you into a spiral of addiction and trauma.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent restructuring of the submission requirements from 15 to 10 drawings means that a handful of pieces never came into fruition. Despite this, I still believe that the existing artworks help to demonstrate the overall idea that I initially set out to accomplish.
